Should I write down notes for Repeat Sentence?
While taking notes can help in some PTE sections, it is generally not recommended for the PTE repeat sentence task. The reason is that the sentence duration is very short (3–5 seconds), and you have only a few seconds before your microphone activates. Trying to jot down words distracts you from active listening and wastes valuable recall time. This task primarily tests your short-term memory and listening comprehension.
Instead of notes, develop your mental memory retention. Use chunking, visualization, and active listening to improve how well you retain spoken information. Practicing with mock tests where you listen and repeat without any writing will simulate the real test conditions more accurately. If you feel the need to take notes, limit it to 1–2 key words only, and focus on saying the sentence with fluency and correct word order. Ultimately, your brain is the best note-taker when it comes to the PTE repeat sentence section.
