Dressed to Play: Golf

To play golf, you don't have to be decked out in the most up-to-date golf apparel and footwear. All you need are sports shoes, comfy shorts, jeans, or a skirt, and a shirt at the least (some clubs may require a collared shirt and sleeves for men). You'll probably want to add to your golf-specific clothing as you play more and better. Here's how to get started.

Golf Shirt Boys should wear collared polo, while girls have more stylistic alternatives, including sleeveless options, when it comes to shirts.

Golf pants, shorts, or skirts are all acceptable options. Over jeans, comfortable slacks, pants, or golf skirts are suggested.

Shoes for golf

Junior golfers can either carry their bag or use a pushcart with three wheels to take the weight of their equipment off their backs. You can rent pushcarts at most golf courses or bring your own.

Device for Measuring Distance

Once your golf game improves to the point that you can consistently hit your various clubs at the same distance, a distance measuring gadget will be useful in determining how far away you are. Many courses additionally install 100, 150, and 200-yard plates in the fairway or mark sprinkler heads on the course with yardage to the center of the green.
