How do free platforms manage to stay available?

I've been thinking about something lately: how do "free" websites actually manage to stay online? Hosting, bandwidth, and maintenance all cost money, so how do they cover these expenses without charging users directly? Do they rely entirely on ads, or are there other models behind the scenes?

That’s a great question, and I’ve wondered about that as well. Running a platform with a lot of content must require significant resources, especially when it comes to hosting and bandwidth. Even when users casually browse sections labeled as

there’s a complex system working behind the scenes. Advertising is likely a key part of the model, but there are probably other revenue streams involved too. It’s something most people don’t think about, yet it’s quite interesting once you start paying attention.
