ATII Thermographic Inspections

Thermography allows detection of potential problem areas, or so-called “hotspots”, within electrical and mechanical installations well before the equipment moves in to a failure mode, which in majority cases results in the expensive repair bills, safety hazards, electrical fires and catastrophic injuries to personnel. An ATII inspector can accurately identify whether the equipment is in satisfactory condition or requires attention from the maintenance personnel, or warrants to be replaced or upgraded. This helps to prioritise the order in which the equipment is to undergo a preventative or unplanned maintenance, and in most frequent cases such inspections can eliminate the risks of catastrophic failures. In addition, the ATII inspector can help to verify the quality of newly commissioned electrical and mechanical installations, as well as to provide assistance in diagnostics of the equipment, returned back to service after repairs.

ATII is specialised in the following specific aspects of thermography:

· detection and interpretation of infrared radiation emitted by equipment;

· assessment of material’s thermal conductivity;

· efficiency of thermal-insulation materials and systems;

· monitoring thermodynamic performance and characteristics of electric motors, control panels, bus ducts, air handlers, rooftop cooling systems, cooling fans; integrity of liquid holding tanks; motor control centres, switches, switchboards; quality of electric cable terminations; existence of moisture; heat dissipated by cables, heating/cooling ducts and other electromechanical components.
